With this weekends Violent loss to Uriah Hall, Is Gegard Mousasi MMA’s Biggest Bust?

Busts = Guys who were prime to be MMA greats but just failed at every turn to live up to the hype.

Rameau Thierry Sokoudjou exploded onto the MMA scene with 2 first round KOs of Top 5 Light Heavyweights Antonio Rogerio Nogueira and Ricardo Arona. These wins immediately catapulted him into the top 5 of the division. UFC signed him to a massive contract and he immediately went 1-3 and was soon cut from the promotion. He is now 16-13 and pretty much disappeared from the MMA picture.

Gegard Mousasi started off his career on the upside with wins over Hector Lombard, Jacare, Melvin Manhoef and Mark Hunt. He became strikeforce champion but Lost his title to King Mo. Since the beating he was given by King Mo, his career has went downhill from there. After this fight he was never able to beat a top 15 fighter ever again. He won plenty of titles and fights in lower tier promotions but when he was signed by the UFC and had no choice but to compete with the big boys, he failed to impress. His stint in the UFC is wins over past their prime over the hill fighters and losses to anyone still in Fighting age. After the brutal beating he took at the hands of Uriah Hall this weekend it’s safe to say that he is the biggest bust in MMA history.
